On Staffrm and linked Twitter account @staffrm there is an initiative at the moment called #teacherappaday which is the latest in a series of hashtags arising from the #teacher5aday wellbeing initiative and sharing of ideas, support and chat.
The lead this time is Gary Henderson (@garyhenderson18 on Twitter). It brought to mind that to be able to cope with the vast amount of apps out there it helps to share information with others.
At the GA conference 2015 I screenshot many of my app folders to form the display for the gasigict group’s stand. I said at I would write this up – unsurprisingly work demands cancelled that plan but I now I tend to start anappseries through the blog to explore a folder at a time, the apps included and how I have applied their use for generic and geographical tasks. I hope at this can be developed into a wider sharing of ideas between geographers and other teachers as exemplified on staffrm.
If you click on the three line icon you are offered a choice of blog pages.
On About I have added our most recent group picture with some members of the group.
Serving you the GA membership and other readers. We are aware that not enough materials from meetings or in GA website are accessed by you the geographer seeking information. We are looking to develop our primary contributions more as an ICT group and welcome ideas and requests.
The blog will be developed more in 2016 to report back on apps / websites discussed at our meetings. We will provide links to the GA site (see hyperlink above), but remember that some content is free other areas are provided for members – look at membership for your department or school rather than individual if that a better match.
In recent reflections I often RT points of news on the Twitter account but it does not tell the teacher in a hurry what topic the item may aid. I am experimenting using quoted tweets and adding hashtag topics. If this helps or hinders your views would be very welcome.
